A case of bird flu has been confirmed at a premises in Stanhope, Weardale the government has confirmed.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the detection of the first human case of avian influenza A (H5N1) in Mexico. The case was diagnosed in the state of Durango, in a three-year-old girl, on April 1.
