As the summer progresses and the water warms up, the Portuguese man-of-war is reaching the beaches of the Basque Country. This species has been found all along the coast, and bathing has been banned in Miarritz (Lapurdi) and Angelu (Lapurdi), as this species can cause serious injuries. Portuguese man-of-war have also been found on Zurriola beach in San Sebastian, but the City Council of San Sebastian has stated that they have not bitten anyone. …
