Portable power banks linked to fires sold through Amazon and The Home Depot in Canada recalled
The recall covers four ESR power bank models after nine Canadian fire incidents caused property damage, with 11,757 units sold nationally, Health Canada said.
- On Thursday, Health Canada published an expanded recall of ESR HaloLock wireless power banks covering model numbers 2G520, 2G505B, 2G512B and 2G505.
- The lithium-ion battery hazard prompted regulators to widen the recall after the original August notice identified three of four models now included.
- On Thursday, the company reported nine fires in Canada causing property damage and 11,757 fires in the United States with no injuries.
- Consumers are being told to stop using the products, contact Waymeet Limited for refunds, and follow disposal rules as the Consumer Product Safety Act forbids resale or giveaway.
- The company says 11,757 units were sold in Canada between October 2022 and July 2025, mainly via Amazon and The Home Depot websites, while Canadian municipalities increase outreach on safe storage and disposal guidance.
