Pope Leo XIV called on world leaders to reject the temptation to use “powerful and sophisticated weapons,” as President Donald J. Trump aired the possibility of using massive bombs to destroy Iran’s Fordo nuclear fuel enrichment plant.
Leo XIV, at the end of the audience in St. Peter recalled the "grids from the places of war" in Ukraine, Iran, Israel and Gaza. Quoting Gaudium et Spes: the use of "scientific weapons of all kinds" can lead to "barbarias" greater than the times passed. Appeal to the responsible with the words of Pius XII: "Nothing is lost with peace."
