Pope Leo XIV will undertake a historic 10-day African tour focusing on peace and the poor, with 20% of the world's Catholics residing on the continent, Vatican officials said.
- Pope Leo, the first U.S.-born pope, will visit 4 African countries- Algeria, Cameroon, Angola and Equatorial Guinea- from April 13 to April 23, 2026 as part of his packed travel plan.
- Leo will also visit Monaco on March 28 and spend nearly a week in Spain from June 6 to June 12 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí's death.
- While the Vatican did not announce further foreign travel, Leo is expected to visit his beloved Peru, and possibly Argentina and Uruguay, in the second half of 2026.
