VATICAN CITY, AUG 11 – The Rescript grants five paid days leave for childbirth and three paid days monthly for parents of disabled children, enhancing family support for Vatican employees.
- On Monday, 11 August, the Rescript approved by Pope Leo XIV provides five days paid leave for Vatican employees on the birth of a child and three paid days monthly for parents of disabled children.
- After an audience on July 28, Maximino Caballero Ledo signed the Provisions for the Family document published Aug. 11, outlining new Vatican employee rights.
- Regarding family allowances, the Rescript states secondary school students are covered until age 20 and university students until age 26, up from previous limits.
- Under the new rules, Vatican employees on disability care leave must forgo other paid work and face revocation if unauthorized, as the Medical Board's judgments are not subject to appeal.
- The Rescript states that its provisions will take effect upon publication in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis, including a monthly subsidy for families with severely disabled or incapacitated members and pensioners.
