Pollster: Biggs set to win Arizona GOP gubernatorial primary
Polls show Andy Biggs leading David Schweikert by 50 points as 74% of Trump supporters back Biggs, according to Predictive Insights.
U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Gilbert, leads U.S. Rep. David Schweikert, R-Scottsdale, by 50 points in the Arizona GOP gubernatorial primary set for July 21, according to a new Predictive Insights poll.
Following Karrin Taylor Robson's exit from the race, Biggs gained momentum after receiving an endorsement from President Donald Trump, which Taylor Robson's supporters also backed.
Among likely GOP primary voters, 66% of men and 52% of women favor Biggs, while 74% of Trump supporters back him; 26% remain undecided.
Pollster Mike Noble said the race is "essentially over," with the primary winner set to face Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in the Nov. 3 general election.
Trump-Endorsed candidates have prevailed in this year's primaries nationwide, and according to Noble, the Arizona GOP is now "Trump's party," reflecting his growing influence.
