Liberals Catch up to PQ in Voting Intentions: Poll

The Liberals and Parti Québécois each have 33% support among decided voters, with the Quebec Conservative Party third at 15%, according to a Léger poll.

  • The Quebec Liberal Party and the Parti Québécois are now tied at 33 per cent support, according to a Léger poll conducted March 20-22. Quebec Liberal Party Leader Charles Milliard and Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon are neck and neck.
  • Support for the Liberals steadily gained ground after former leader Pablo Rodriguez faced campaign allegations and resigned in December. Milliard's appointment as leader in mid-February accelerated the party's recovery from a 20 per cent low.
  • Among the 1,003 eligible Quebecers sampled online, the Quebec Conservative Party holds third place at 15 per cent. Coalition Avenir Québec and Quebec Solidaire each garnered nine per cent support.
  • Before Rimouski MNA Maïté Blanchette Vézina officially joined the PCQ to run in La Peltrie, the CAQ lost three points. The party now prepares to select a new leader in just under two weeks.
  • Léger reports a maximum margin of error of 3.1 per cent, 19 times out of 20, for this sample size. This precision allows confidence in the tight race between Milliard and Plamondon.
