Police watchdog says N.L. constable facing harassment charges

The complaint led to criminal harassment and harassing communications charges, and the officer is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 4.

  • On Friday, the Serious Incident Response Team charged Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Constable Kameron Collins with one count of criminal harassment and one count of harassing communications.
  • SIRT-NL, the civilian-led oversight agency in Newfoundland and Labrador, holds a mandate to investigate serious incidents involving police actions, including sexual offences, domestic violence, or matters of significant public interest.
  • The charges against Collins stem from an investigation into a complaint filed against the RNC officer, conducted by the oversight agency.
  • Collins will appear in court on Nov 4 to answer the charges laid by the provincial oversight team.
  • As the matter proceeds in court, SIRT-NL stated it will make no further comment on the case since it is now before the courts.
