Police take pro-migrant protesters to asylum hotel
EPPING, ESSEX, JUL 23 – Essex Police escorted around 40 pro-migrant activists to the asylum hotel before clashes erupted among 400 protesters, with five men charged over violent disorder, police said.
- On July 17, Essex Police accompanied approximately 40 members of Stand Up to Racism, a pro-migrant group, to the Bell Hotel in Epping, a location used to accommodate asylum seekers.
- The protests followed local anger about the Bell Hotel's use for asylum accommodation and rising concerns over migration and crime, with some blaming outsiders.
