Dutch police detain 4 suspects in probe into men who drugged, abused women they knew

Police seized phones and computers as they investigated whether suspects shared abuse footage and drugging advice in closed social media groups.

  • On Thursday, Dutch police announced the arrest of four men following searches across the Netherlands last week in an investigation into women allegedly drugged and sexually abused by people close to them.
  • Acting on information shared by authorities in Germany and the United Kingdom, detectives identified eight suspects aged 21 to 51 from Rotterdam, Sassenheim, Hilversum, Veldhoven, Sint Willebrord, Amstelveen, and the municipalities of Hulst, Horst, and Maas.
  • "This is a case with an enormous impact," Milou van der Kolk of the Rotterdam Sexual Crimes Team said. Victims may remain unaware of abuse, as suspects allegedly drugged them into unconsciousness before performing sexual acts while filming.
  • The investigation bears echoes of the case involving French citizen Pelicot, whose ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, was convicted in December 2024. Like that case, victims here were allegedly drugged into submission by partners or acquaintances.
  • Victim support organization Slachtofferhulp Nederland has established a team to assist affected individuals, working with the Centre for Sexual Violence. Victims can contact Veilig Thuis confidentially 24 hours a day on 0800 2000.
