Police search for second suspect following Seattle food festival shooting that killed 3

Police recovered two guns and said there is no outstanding threat to the community as investigators search for a second suspect.

  • On July 26, 2026, gunfire erupted at the Bite at Seattle Center at about 6 p.m., killing three people and wounding four others. Authorities reported at least two individuals began firing at one another.
  • The Bite, a Northwest tradition for over 40 years featuring over 130 vendors, became the site of tragedy. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson called it "an act of horrific violence," noting the community struggles to understand how celebration became gunfire.
  • Police recovered two Firearms at the scene but noted no surveillance cameras captured the incident. Assistant Seattle Police Chief Tyrone Davis confirmed one "young person" is in custody while authorities search for a second suspect.
  • Multiple agencies, including the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, assist the investigation. Davis said police have a "limited number of witnesses" and urged anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
  • The investigation remains ongoing as officials are "working to determine" if the suspects knew the victims. Davis added there is currently no "outstanding threat to the community" while the search for the second suspect continues.
