Person Arrested After Wildfire Sparks in Kelowna, B.C., Park
One individual was arrested in connection with the Knox Mountain wildfire, which was extinguished by 4:45 p.m. PT, while crews and police ensured public safety.
- On Friday, Kelowna RCMP said one person was arrested and remains in custody after a grass fire broke out on Knox Mountain Park, Kelowna, British Columbia.
 - Witnesses reported a man intentionally started the fire, and video shared with Castanet shows a person in black near the flames with officers chasing them through the grass.
 - Police blocked access to Knox Mountain Park and assisted hikers off the mountain as Kelowna Fire Department trucks arrived and RCMP used K9 units and ATVs searching for a suspect.
 - Police said the investigation is ongoing and the RCMP asked the public to stay away while blocking roads around Knox Mountain Park access points.
 - While the province said the peak had passed earlier this month, the BC Wildfire Service reports about 90 active blazes, and the city conducted controlled burning on Oct. 16.
