Gunmen pistol-whip man inside Southwest Philly home, police say
A 45-year-old man was hospitalized after a fight over a shoveled parking spot escalated with gun violence and two arrests, police said.
- A brawl over a parking spot in Kensington left a 45-year-old man struck in the head and hospitalized, officers found him on the 2700 block of A Street near East Lehigh Avenue around 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 29.
- The dispute began after residents cleared snow and tried to save shoveled parking spaces, as police said city residents often use cones and chairs in 'savesies' after last weekend's snow storm.
- During the scuffle, the victim pulled a knife and the 21-year-old showed a legally owned handgun; both lowered their weapons but continued fighting, police said.
- Police arrested the 36-year-old woman and the 21-year-old man, recovered all weapons, and Philadelphia Police Department's East Detectives continue investigating following the fight Thursday.
- Surveillance footage obtained by 6ABC Action News showed a man’s pants slipping and a woman striking a man with a gun, while neighbors said parking disputes have risen after snowstorms and authorities asked witnesses to call 215-686-TIPS.
