Victim of Fatal Hit-and-Run in Butte Identified
BUTTE, MONTANA, JUL 21 – The suspect driver fled after striking Duncan Brass, 39, and later died by apparent suicide, police said, as investigators continue to seek public help in the case.
- At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, a vehicle struck Duncan Brass at Locust and Garfield Streets, Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement said, and the deputy coroner identified him as 39-year-old Duncan Brass.
- Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement said the driver did not stop at the scene, and the vehicle continued southbound on Garfield Street then turned west on Grand Avenue.
- Anyone with information, police are asking homeowners with security cameras to share footage or call 406-497-1120.
- Investigators found the suspect vehicle and spoke to a person of interest, and that individual died of an apparent suicide by Sunday evening, Lester said.
- As of Sunday afternoon, police said the suspect vehicle and driver have not been located and the investigation is ongoing as authorities continue searching for the driver.
