Police hunting for Essex man accused of murdering wife in Thailand
Thai police are conducting a cross-agency manhunt for Anthony James Condron, accused of fatally shooting his wife amid frequent domestic disputes, with an international homicide warrant issued.
- On Tuesday, officers found Pattanee Urapanom, 43, dead at Janpanom Farm Stay, Maha Sarakham, and identified Anthony James Condron, 56, as the accused.
- Police say frequent arguments between the couple preceded the shooting, neighbours reported hearing a row in English, and authorities noted Condron’s history of violence and firearm possession.
- Police allege the shooting occurred as the victim was mounting a vehicle; Condron allegedly used a 9mm handgun, and officers performed CPR but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Police issued an arrest warrant and opened a manhunt, requesting an international homicide charge and placing checkpoints while coordinating with the Immigration Bureau and regional Investigation Division.
- The case has drawn international attention because the suspect is a British national from Witham, Essex who has lived in Thailand about ten years, while police said Pattanee Urapanom was a well-loved volunteer and friends are devastated.

I played golf with this guy a few weeks ago. He was a regular member of our Khon Kaen Expats golf society and was not particularly well liked as he was very loud and vociferous on the course. I had quite a long conversation with him after the round as he originated from South East London and knew my home town in Kent quite well. We always thought he was a volatile person but didn’t think he was capable of murder!
