Two Teenagers Seriously Hurt in M6 Two Car and Lorry Crash
Two teenage boys suffered serious injuries after a three-vehicle crash involving a lorry that fled; the M6 was closed nearly 12 hours, police said.
- On February 15, a 17-year-old driver of a green Nissan Micra and his 16-year-old passenger were seriously injured in a collision on the M6 northbound between junctions 32 and 33 at 11.16pm, while an HGV driver fled the scene, Lancashire Police say.
- A green Nissan Micra entered the central reservation, hit the barrier, and stopped in the third lane before a silver Toyota Celica struck it and an HGV then hit the Toyota, police say.
- Both carriageways were closed overnight for almost 12 hours while police, paramedics and fire crews attended, with M6 northbound reopening around 10.50am but motorists facing two miles of congestion.
- Police are appealing for dashcam footage covering 11:10pm–11:20pm between junctions 32–33 northbound and ask anyone with information to call 101 quoting log 1242 of February 15.
- Sgt Bex Price said her thoughts are with the two boys and their families as enquiries continue and thanked motorists whose journeys were disrupted while officers and emergency service colleagues worked.
