MONROE, N.C. – Monroe Police are investigating an animal cruelty case after finding a dying dog abandoned in a crate behind a business dumpster. Investigators found the severely neglected dog on Friday morning behind the Dollar General store on W. Franklin Street. The dog was a small brown and black shepherd mix with a bright orange collar.
