- According to accounts, Ogbonna took her to a hotel where he allegedly assaulted her; the woman used WhatsApp's 24-hour disappearing messages feature for their correspondence before recording a final video naming him responsible for her death.
- Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, noting it followed a petition filed by human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe.
- The suspect remains in police custody and has allegedly confessed to the crime, while Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi assured the public that allegations would be thoroughly investigated with no aspect overlooked.
