Shooting at Pittsburg/Bay Point BART Station Injures 3, Temporarily Disrupts Service
A bus bridge and Tri Delta buses carried riders after BART halted service between North Concord/Martinez and Antioch, officials said.
On Monday evening, a shooting at the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART station injured three people, prompting a partial service shutdown in the East Bay.
While Bay Area Rapid Transit officials initially reported 'police activity' at 5:42 p.m., the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District first identified the incident as a shooting.
BART police confirmed the shooting occurred on the Antioch station transfer platform, and authorities subsequently detained one potential suspect following the incident.
Transportation officials established a bus bridge using Tri Delta Transit bus numbers 371 and 372 to manage service disruptions between North Concord/Martinez and Antioch station.
BART officials confirmed the three victims were hospitalized, though their conditions remain unknown as investigators determine if the shooter was on the platform or train.
