Poland summons Israeli envoy over detention of activists
Poland summoned Israel's chargé d'affaires after Israeli authorities detained activists, including Polish citizens, on the Gaza-bound Sumud Freedom Flotilla, demanding their immediate release and a formal apology.
Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski condemned the treatment of the detained activists and sought consular access, expecting their citizens to be treated according to international standards.
The detention involved activists being forced to kneel with hands tied behind their backs in front of an Israeli government member, which drew domestic and international criticism.
The flotilla aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge Israel's security blockade amid ongoing conflict and international concern.
