Poilievre pitches affordability plan during Cowichan Valley visit
Poilievre said families are relying on food banks as Conservatives pitch fuel-tax and sales-tax cuts to ease living costs.
Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre visited Cowichan Valley to promote the Conservative affordability agenda, stating that families are increasingly struggling with rising costs and economic uncertainty.
Addressing grocery and housing costs, Poilievre highlighted proposals to eliminate fuel taxes for the remainder of the year and remove sales taxes on used vehicles to assist struggling households.
Calling the Crofton paper mill closure "very sad," Poilievre blamed provincial policies and United States softwood lumber disputes while promising to reduce regulations and taxes on homebuilding materials.
Backing Cowichan-Malahat-Langford MP Jeff Kibble, Poilievre emphasized that affordability and public safety remain key priorities for Conservatives heading into Parliament's next sitting.
As part of a summer tour through British Columbia, the visit followed a town hall in Duncan on Saturday, June 20, where Poilievre discussed policy shifts on crime.
