Birthday greetings poured in nationwide as Congress leaders praised Rahul Gandhi’s constitutional focus and opposition role.
On Friday, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi turned 56, receiving birthday greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who wrote: "Praying for his good health and long life."
Born in New Delhi on June 19, 1970, Gandhi is the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi; he currently serves as a Member of Parliament from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
Mallikarjun Kharge praised Gandhi's "unbridled dedication to the ideals of the Constitution," noting his "uncompromising fight for the unheard voices" has inspired millions across India.
AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot commended Gandhi's work protecting farmers, students, and Dalits, while supporters across India celebrated his Bharat Jodo Yatra outreach efforts.
The Prime Minister's gesture occurred amid sharp political contestation between the BJP and the Congress, as Gandhi remains one of the government's most vocal critics inside and outside Parliament.
Youth Congress workers celebrated the 56th birthday of Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, at the Ganges Ghat in Varanasi. A poster of Rahul Gandhi, depicted as Lord Parashurama, holding an axe in one hand and a copy of the Constitution in the other, surfaced.
