- Launched in 2019, the fully Centre-funded program provides eligible farmer families annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000, transferred directly into bank accounts in three equal installments through Direct Benefit Transfer .
- Independent evaluations by NITI Aayog found the scheme significantly boosts agricultural investment, with 92% of beneficiaries utilizing funds for seeds and fertilizers, while nearly one in four recipients is a woman farmer.
- The Union Agriculture Ministry added that 85% of beneficiaries report higher farm incomes and reduced dependence on informal borrowing, with over Rs 4.47 lakh crore transferred through 23 installments since launch.
- Eligible farmers can expect the 24th installment of PM-KISAN in October 2026, although the government has not yet announced an official release date for the payment.
