PM Andy Burnham makes comment on fire
More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze as six people were treated for smoke inhalation and about 200 homes lost power, officials said.
On Thursday, a massive blaze tore through grassland and homes in Stourbridge, prompting West Midlands Fire Service Chief Fire Officer Simon Tuhill to call it "one of the most significant" incidents the region has ever faced.
The Met Office recorded 38.1C in London on Thursday, the second time this year temperatures reached that level, while the West Midlands faced an amber extreme heat warning before multiple fires erupted.
More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze while West Midlands Ambulance Service treated six people, including two hospitalized for smoke inhalation; about 200 homes lost power and smoke forced M6 closures between junctions five and six.
Tuhill confirmed a joint investigation into the cause on Thursday, while Secretary of State Angela Rayner and West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker expressed support for residents displaced by evacuations in Stourbridge and Pershore.
Councillor Andrew Tromans described the scene as "apocalyptic," urging Dudley Borough Council to hold an emergency meeting on climate change, as Tuhill warned the emergency service presence will likely run into days.
