Volvo has introduced its new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) platform for its flagship SUV models, the XC60 and XC90. With its massive 41.2 kWh battery, the new XC60 offers a driving range of 200 km in electric mode, setting a historic range record in its segment.

Volvo is pushing the boundaries of what can be called a plug-in hybrid. The refreshed XC60 features a 41.2 kWh battery and is expected to run on electricity for up to 200 km. It also offers up to 461 hp and a combined range of over 1,200 km. There's only one parameter that seems surprisingly modest given such a large battery: charging power.
