Brazil's Congress has cleared a bill that lowers federal taxes on petrol, diesel, biodiesel, ethanol and aviation kerosene for 2026, and it now goes to President Lula for signature. The National Congress passed yesterday the bill that allows to compensate the reduction of federal taxes on fuels due to the war in Iran with extraordinary revenues of oil during the year 2026. The text was expanded and authorized the Lula government also to increase expenses outside the tax limits this year, but promises to contain expenses in 2027. The estimate of the economic team is of an adjustment of R $ 10 billion next year.
Lula's government promised to contain the growth of some expenditure from 2027 onwards.
