Baltimore Co. Paramedic Pleads Guilty In Bodily Fluid Case: Report
Prosecutors said Baltimore County spent about $263,000 on hazmat cleaning and new ice machines after the alleged misconduct.
On Friday, 36-year-old Christopher Carroll pleaded guilty to three counts of causing another person to ingest bodily fluid, accepting a plea deal in a Towson courtroom packed with Baltimore County Fire Department uniforms.
Investigations revealed Carroll recorded 64 videos of his misconduct and posted them online, including one instance where he urinated into an ice maker at a Pikesville fire station, using a scoop to mix the urine throughout the ice.
Roughly $263,000 in taxpayer funds covered hazmat cleaning and new ice machines at all 25 professional fire stations following a supervisor's complaint that triggered the investigation.
Prosecutors will recommend a 30-year sentence with all but 20 years suspended and five years of probation; sentencing is scheduled for October 13.
Defense attorney Seth Okin declined to comment, stating "It would be inappropriate to make a comment right now, given that sentencing is pending on October 13." Baltimore County Fire Department officials confirmed resources and support remain available for all employees.
