PLAYVS AND URBAN ONE ANNOUNCE OFFICIAL NAME AND LOGO OF HISTORIC LEAGUE: "POWER4+ HBCU ESPORTS LEAGUE"
The fee-free league will launch with 25 founding HBCUs and begin its inaugural season in February 2027, officials said.

- Global esports viewership reached 640.8 million in 2025, with 65% of regular viewers in the 18-34 age range, while Urban One reaches 80 million unique monthly users.
- An advisory committee will convene this summer to finalize league structures and select game titles; the inaugural season kicks off in February 2027 with an in-person national championship.
