PlaySide announces War for Westeros, a Game of Thrones RTS
- PlaySide Studios and Warner Bros. revealed a new real-time strategy title set in the world of Westeros during Summer Game Fest Live in Los Angeles on Friday.
- The announcement comes after the earlier departure of Warner Bros. Interactive's head of gaming and represents Warner Bros. Discovery's first significant move with the Game of Thrones franchise in the gaming sector since that leadership change earlier this year.
- Scheduled for release on PC in 2026, this game allows players to lead well-known factions from the Game of Thrones universe—such as the northern rulers, the lion house, the dragon dynasty, or the enigmatic ice army—in tactical battles that emphasize alliance-building, betrayal, and distinct faction abilities.
- The cinematic trailer features Jon Snow fighting and dying against the Night King, highlighting that "trust is fleeting and power is everything," while promising players the ability to reshape iconic battles and the realm's fate.
