Plants and Trees Burn at Space Center; No Injuries Reported on Tanegashima Island, Kagoshima (Kyodo News)

At around 4:15 p.m. on the 10th, a 119 call was received reporting that "the vegetation on the grounds is on fire" at the Tanegashima Space Center in Minamitane-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture. According to local firefighters and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the fire was extinguished about an hour later, and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
