A woman convicted in Brazil of torture and kidnapping arrested in Azores
PJ reveals that the 48-year-old woman, detained by the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Azores, was "procured by the Brazilian judicial authorities for a 17-year sentence.
The 48-year-old suspect was wanted by the Brazilian authorities to serve a prison sentence of 17 years and six months. She is charged with crimes committed in a rehabilitation centre for alcohol and drug addicts in the state of Santa Catarina.
Crimes occurred between March 2012 and August 2014 at an addiction treatment center in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
A 48-year-old woman sought by the Brazilian authorities was located and detained on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores. She will be present at the Lisbon Court of Relations for enforcement of coercive measures while awaiting the extradition process.
