Pilgrim's Pride to Invest $400M in New Facility, Creating 630 Jobs

On Thursday, Governor Brian Kemp announced Pilgrim's Pride will build a new facility in LaFayette, Walker County, investing $400 million and supporting over 630 jobs.
Pilgrim's Pride produced 1.51 billion broilers during the past year, WATTPoultry.com Top Poultry Companies Database reported, and employs over 61,000 people worldwide.
The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce team partnered with Walker County Development Authority and Quick Start program, facilitating the project at a 100-acre site near LaFayette producing brands like Just Bare and Pilgrim's.
LaFayette Mayor Andy Arnold described, 'Pilgrim's has a wonderful history of positive community involvement, and the creation of up to 630 jobs is a game changer for many families,' while Angie Teems highlighted the facility as 'a tremendous opportunity for stable jobs and long-term security.'
According to the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, the project represents the largest single job addition in the Chattanooga area in the past five years and the third-largest capital investment in that time, from their report.
