McLaren's Zak Brown Dismisses Piastri Red Bull Move
McLaren CEO Zak Brown said Oscar Piastri’s nine Grand Prix wins make him a target, as Red Bull weighs its options if Max Verstappen leaves.
McLaren Racing is bracing for arch-rivals Red Bull to pursue Oscar Piastri next year, according to Autosport, despite the Australian driver's long-term contract.
Red Bull could be without Max Verstappen if he departs at season's end, positioning Piastri as the top candidate to replace the four-time champion, Autosport reported.
Piastri told The Athletic, "Yes, I think I am," regarding his belief he is in the right spot to win championships, citing the team's proven ability to realize potential.
Since debuting with McLaren in 2023, Piastri has won nine grands prix as a key piece of the team's success, finishing second at the Japanese Grand Prix after leading early stages.
Max Verstappen has yet to confirm his Formula One future beyond next year, leaving McLaren to brace for Red Bull's potential move for Piastri if the champion departs.
