Phillies Get Disappointing Mike Trout Trade Update Amid Adolis Garcia Injury
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis Garcia will undergo right latissimus dorsi repair surgery on Wednesday, June 24, performed by Dr. Anthony Romeo, with recovery projected at six to eight months for a 2027 return.
Garcia suffered the injury on June 10 while attempting to throw out a runner during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays; medical evaluation revealed a torn lat muscle forcing him to miss the remainder of the season.
The 33-year-old outfielder batted.195 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games, recording a career-low 63 OPS+ and-0.8 bWAR before his injury ended his season.
On Thursday, the Phillies recalled pitchers Seth Johnson and Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley while optioning Tanner Banks and Andrew Painter to the same affiliate.
Philadelphia is reportedly "on the prowl" for outfield help, considering Boston Red Sox duo Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu alongside Seiya Suzuki and Jo Adell as potential trade candidates.
