- On Thursday, French energy firm TotalEnergies and Nextnorth secured $300 million in financing for a 440-megawatt solar park in Isabela, Philippines, with construction already underway.
- TotalEnergies will place its 65% stake into a renewable joint venture with Masdar, while Nextnorth retains 35%, with financing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, ING Bank, and Standard Chartered.
- More than half the plant's output will be sold to retail suppliers AdventEnergy and PrimeRES for industrial clients, with Nextnorth CEO Miguel Mapa stating, "Energy security has never been as crucial for the Philippines as it is today."
- The project contributes to a 9-gigawatt renewable portfolio developed with Masdar through a 50-50 joint venture across nine Asian countries, Olivier Jouny, TotalEnergies' senior vice-president for renewables, said.
- Expected to come online by end-2027, the Isabela site will produce 1.2 terawatt-hours of electricity over 20 years, as Nextnorth manages a pipeline of more than 800 megawatts.
