- Mendonca also granted police permission earlier this year to launch an investigation into Fabio Luis concerning alleged improper payments linked to irregular pension deductions from the National Social Security Institute , which also involved Antunes.
- In a February interview, President Luiz Inacio Lula said he confronted Fabio Luis about the pension case, stating "If you've done something wrong, you'll pay the price for it. If you haven't, defend yourself."
- While the investigation has not yet been formally opened, lawyers for Fabio Luis and Antunes did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the allegations.
