Magyar submits sweeping constitutional reform package to parliament
Péter Magyar submitted to the National Assembly, on behalf of the government, a proposal for the 17th amendment to the Basic Law. This was announced on Saturday on the Prime Minister's Facebook page, with the addition that the amendment would terminate the current President of the Republic's mandate.
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar (Tisza) submitted a proposal to parliament on Saturday to amend the constitution, which he described as liberating Hungary from the current political system. The constitutional change would immediately remove President Tamás Sulyok, whom Magyar describes as a puppet of the previous government.
