Brussels wants to fight the congestion of applications for authorisation from companies, and to ease their obligation to update their data when they want to renew authorisation
So far, some pesticides, such as glyphosate, have to be regularly re-approved, and the EU wants to change this, as most substances are already undergoing several tests.
Until now, the authorisation of plant protection products in the EU is only granted for up to 15 years and has to be re-evaluated afterwards. If it is according to the EU Commission, Glyphosate & Co will in future be distributed in the fields without regular new approvals.
