HateAid filed a complaint in Germany against Meta, EssilorLuxottica and several resellers, arguing that the Ray-Ban Meta are illegal surveillance devices. This legal action, based on a law prohibiting hidden cameras, could create a major precedent for the protection of privacy in Europe and redefine the legality of these technologies.
Smart glasses look like normal glasses, but you can also secretly take photos and videos with them. The organization HateAid therefore calls for their distribution to be banned.
