The partial results gave the right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori a favourite in the second round, with 17% of the vote. Behind her, the radical left candidate Roberto Sánchez (12%) and the ultraconservative Rafael López Aliaga (11.9%) were at elbow-to-neck.
