People trying to defame Kanwar Yatris, action will be taken against them: Adityanath
UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA, JUL 21 – Yogi Adityanath condemned misconduct by some Kanwar Yatra pilgrims and vowed strict action against miscreants tarnishing the pilgrimage’s reputation amid rising incidents, with over 170 booked in early days.
- On Wednesday in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath said some people are trying to defame the Kanwar Yatra on social media and urged every 'kanwar sangh' to expose such malcontents.
- Earlier this month, the CM had alleged that the Kanwar Yatra was `deliberately defamed` and participants labelled as `goons`, while he accused certain groups of spreading falsehoods.
- During the event, Yogi Adityanath noted, `We have CCTV footage of all of them`, and an official said three Kanwariyas were arrested for assaulting a CRPF jawan at Mirzapur railway station.
- Amidst warnings of defamation, Adityanath said CCTV surveillance will be used, and `we are going to take very strict action against them`.
- In response to a petition, the Supreme Court of India declined to examine the legality of the QR code directive for eateries earlier this month, while a June 25 press release revealed the mandate.
