Penske Media Acquires Remaining Vox Media Brands, Creates PMX Division
The deal adds Eater, The Verge and other Vox brands to PMC, which says the combined company reaches hundreds of millions of consumers monthly.
On Thursday, Penske Media Corp. acquired the remaining Vox Media brands—including Eater, The Verge, and SB Nation—creating a new subsidiary called PMX to oversee a combined portfolio of more than 25 publishing titles.
The acquisition follows the sale of Vox Media's other assets to James Murdoch's Lupa Systems last month, while PMC—already Vox Media's largest shareholder with a 20% stake—was positioned to consolidate the remaining properties.
Former Vox Media President Ryan Pauley will lead PMX as president, reporting to PMC Chairman and CEO Jay Penske and President Craig Perreault, with Tom Finn as COO and Ken Delalcazar as CFO.
The combined PMX portfolio reaches more than 350 million people monthly and produces more than 300 live events annually, solidifying the company's position as the largest digital media publisher.
Operating autonomously under the PMX umbrella, the brands combine PMC's existing titles like Variety, Billboard, and Rolling Stone with new acquisitions, creating a formidable platform spanning entertainment, music, sports, and technology.
