The motion − put forward by the Socialist Party after the collapse of talks on pension reforms − received just 189 votes out of the 289 needed to bring down the government. It had broad support across the left but failed to receive the backing of the far right.
After a long request from almost all of the House against the Prime Minister, the motion of censure was rejected, the RN having refused to vote on it. Between the president of MoDem and the Socialists, the war is indeed declared.
