Final sprint in the Federal Council: In the last meeting of the year numerous laws were passed. These include the pension package, reliefs for the catering industry and commuters as well as the new military service law. An overview.
Shortly before Christmas, the Federal Council decided on a plethora of new laws: from the commuting fee to the new military service to the pension package. We list the most important decisions.
In the last meeting in 2025, the Federal Council approved, among other things, laws on pensions and tax reliefs. Also the budget in 2026 was released by the Länderkammer.
With the new military service all 18-year-olds will receive a questionnaire on suitability for the Bundeswehr in the future. The Federal Council now approves the corresponding law, which at least for the time being relies on voluntary service.
