The Alamo to Display Famous Bicycle From ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure’
BEXAR COUNTY, TEXAS, JUL 18 – The Alamo acquired the original Pee-wee Herman stunt bike for $125,000 to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary with permanent display planned for fall 2027.
- On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Alamo announced it had acquired the original screen-used stunt bike from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, marking the film’s 40th anniversary celebration.
- Earlier this year, the bike sold at auction in May for $125,000, expected to fetch $30,000–$60,000 according to People magazine.
- Boasting a `Property of Pee-wee Herman` tag, the bike comes with vintage streamers and a working tiger siren replica.
- Before the permanent exhibit, the bike will go on limited-time display at the Ralston Family Collection Center, where it will serve as a centerpiece in the Mays Family Legacy Gallery that examines the Alamo’s cultural impact.
- The bike will feature at the heart of a gallery inside the Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, set to open in the fall of 2027, and the Alamo Trust plans a free screening in Plaza de Valero.
