Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in Boston
On Thursday morning, city transportation planner Louisa Gag was killed after being struck by a truck while riding on Tremont Street near Roxbury Crossing around 8:20 a.m.
The BPD Homicide Unit is investigating the collision, which forced closure of Tremont Street between Brigham Circle and Roxbury Crossing; the driver remained at the scene.
Half a dozen police vehicles and numerous law enforcement established a perimeter around the intersection of Tremont and Parker streets where Gag was commuting to work.
Mayor Michelle Wu stated Gag "led programs and improvements that made our streets safer," while Boston City Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune called her a "tireless advocate" for accessible communities.
City officials pledged to continue bicycle safety initiatives across Boston to honor Gag's legacy, ensuring her work as a transportation planner shapes ongoing efforts to improve street accessibility.
