Pedestrian dies in hospital after getting hit by TTC streetcar
Toronto police say the 62-year-old man died after six days in hospital, and Traffic Services is still investigating the collision.
On Thursday, a 62-year-old man died after being struck by a 504 King streetcar in Toronto. The collision occurred on July 31 at King Street East and Lawrence Street.
Investigators report the pedestrian was walking northbound when struck by an eastbound streetcar. Emergency crews responded to a personal injury collision report on July 31.
After six days in a Toronto hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries, according to authorities. Police had initially transported the man with life-threatening injuries.
Traffic Services members are conducting a fatal collision investigation. The traffic unit continues to examine the incident.
A TTC spokesperson previously stated that "the safety of our customers, employees and everyone who uses the transit system is paramount." This reflects the agency's operational priorities.
