A payment failure turned into a national collapse test. Not all institutions and citizens are apparently ready for a real crisis scenario.
There was no information for Sund & Blt, which operates the Storebltsbroen, from the payment giant Nets when the payment system collapsed on Saturday evening.
The disruptions affected Nets, a company that provides card payment services to banks.
On Saturday evening, Net's payment services broke down. This meant, among other things, that cars that wanted to pay by card at the Great Belt Bridge could not get through. This led to anger, long queues and frustration. Two barriers were smashed by drivers, while staff were subjected to quite unpleasant language.
The cause of the crash at Nets has still not been found, press manager Søren Winge told Ritzau.
Nets is experiencing problems with its banking terminals in both Norway and the rest of the Nordic region.
