Pavkov: Serbia Nominates Beech Forests for Unesco Natural Heritage

At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Government of Serbia adopted a Conclusion on the basis of which Serbia will submit a nomination of beech forests for the expansion of the UNESCO international world natural heritage site "Ancient and Pristine Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe", the ministry said in a statement.
"The Biogradska Gora National Park was recognized on that occasion as the most important natural asset of Montenegro, which has all the necessary values and meets the candidacy propositions, and was nominated within this process to form a large serial UNESCO World Heritage Site in Europe, with the aim of protecting the beech forest ecosystem," the Information states.
Serbia will submit the nomination together with France, Italy and Montenegro for the forests of Tara, Kopaonik and Fruška Gora.
